The First Eight Weeks

Below is information about how your puppy has spent the first eight weeks of their life. We provide the most personal and loving care to each puppy.

The first couple of weeks are spent making sure all puppies stay warm and eat on their own. We support their body heat by using heating pads through the first week of life. The mom also receives nutritional supplements to ensure she stays healthy while nursing. They are kept in an extended whelping area with their mom around the clock.

After the puppies have opened their eyes, we begin handling them daily and provide neurostimulation multiple times a day. This includes touching their ears, each of their paws, between their toes, and showing them they are safe. We will begin a series of worming at 2 weeks old as well.

At about three weeks old, we will introduce potty areas. This will help keep the puppies sleep and play areas clean as well as introduce them to outdoor smells. Around four weeks old, we begin weaning the puppies and transitioning to dry food. We will continue handling and socializing the puppies. At the same time, we will separate them from their mom at night so they can rest well!

Six weeks old will be a big milestone for the puppies! They will receive their first round of vaccinations by our family veterinarian. They will also begin outside potty training.

Between seven and eight weeks, puppies will join their new families!
